About Us
I have been involved in beading for over ten years. In my shop I offer quality hand beaded designs as well as silver designs. My work borrows from American Indian beading stitches, as well as from other ethnic groups. To these ancient crafts I add vibrant modern color palettes and innovative design. Most of my work is done by sewing beads together in intricate designs using nylon or silk threads or sometimes very fine wire. I do not use a loom. Where "beaded beads" are used in conjunction with other single beads (as in my Juliet necklaces) the whole piece is strung on durable beading wire. My seed beads are primarily glass, but also occasionally metal, stone, or ceramic. I frequently accent with sterling and Bali silver. Bali is sterling; the name refers to the carved and raised design style. All materials are new, except where (as mentioned in the description of the piece) I use a few accent beads taken from old pieces of jewelry. I also enjoy working with silver. I studied silver smithing about thirty years ago, and the recent vogue for silver wire has renewed my interest in metal work. My jewelry is designed for wear by women of all ages who prefer original and artistic accessories. I teach occasional classes in beadwork. My work is featured at Lady Spencer's Gallery in Cambria, California.
