Wonderful Diminutive Serpentine Oak Recamier

This beautiful, small upholstered oak recamier is 36" long, the seat is 21" deep, and the carved back rest is 28 1/2" high.The well cushioned seat is 15" off the floor. It and its nicely moulded 2" frame/skirt is serpentine in shape. The piece is supported by nicely turned 9" legs. Connected to the backrest is a well carved swirl carved oak panel. There is a small arm rest in front with a well turned finial under its support. A recamier of this small size is indeed very uncommon, and, I think it is a distinct possibility that the piece was designed/made as a child's recamier. It is plenty strong, however, and regularly supports large adults. The frame and the burgundy velvet upholstery are both in wonderful condition and ready for many years of use.
