The Best in Vintage Jewels, Antiques & Collectibles
This is the ultimate late Victorian (Aesthetic Period 1880-1901) bangle bracelet, my heart was racing when I first saw it. These are getting hard to come by and the decoration on this one is exceptional. Layers of applied decoration with intricately chased designs, touches of rose and yellow gold for a mixed metal effect. The bracelet measures 1 1/4" wide at the front. Inside the oval bangle measures 2 1/4" across by 2 1/16" high. Will fit an average size or smaller wrist, will not accommodate larger then average size wrist. Marked on the V clasp "Sterling Silver", this is most probably an American made bracelet. I must mention that there is a dent in one of the hollow beads decorations which surround the floral frame. Also, some genius scratched inside the bangle to see if the silver was solid I suppose. A few minor nicks on one edge and also minor scratches on the back plain part of the bangle. You will not notice any of these very minor flaws when wearing (see close ups and back view). All in all a real treasure in very good condition. Unusual to find with no dents to the back, which is so common in these old bangles. Bracelet weighs a hefty 50 grams of sterling silver.
