Breathtaking detail on this fabulous antique buckle! Heavy (70 grams) sterling silver with open-work frame decorated with swirling florals and leaves. Measures 3 3/8" by 2 1/2" in height. While examining this for marks I just knew it must be French in origin. Dating from the Victorian era, black onyx and half seed pearl with gold fittings and spacers on rigid steel wire. The hidden clasp is hook shaped, it hooks onto the last barrel shape onyx piece.
