This is a beautiful red chalk, or sanguine, drawing from France dating from the 1700s. The drawing is a head study of a beautiful young lady and brings to mind works by such famous French artists as Boucher and Watteau. The support is laid paper. It measures approximately 10" x 8.75" (25.5cm x 22cm) unframed. It will make a wonderful addition to the collector of fine European art.
