This is an exquisite miniature enamel painting of a religious scene. This is a very petite work measuring just 1.5 inches in height that manages to incorporate a fairly complex composition with numerous characters. The vivid colors are accentuated by the shiny enamel surface that is even more attractive in person than the photos indicate. This piece dates from the mid 1700s and is faintly signed at the bottom (see photo using increased contrast). There is a very light horizontal line that is only visible when analyzed up close. It measures approximately 1.5" x 1.25" (3.75cm x 3cm) and is unframed. It will make a wonderful addition to the collector of fine European art.
