Jelinek has added a single delicate rose bud to the right of the composition, which is absolutely eye-catching against the sunburnt yellow and blue-green background. Another lonely rose seems to float just below the main cluster.
This tray is in fantastic condition with no chips, nicks, cracks, or repairs. The gilding along the border is in overall good condition with some areas having greater wear than others.
T. M. Jelinek has signed the front of the tray on the right hand side. The underside of is stamped with the ‘A.K.D., France’, Mark 7, which was used from 1890 to 1916. It also appears to carry what was once the ‘Hand Painted, Stouffer’, Mark 4, which narrows the time frame this tray was created to 1906-1914. As you can see from my pictures, the Stouffer mark has been smudged over time, and I can only assume it is a Stouffer creation (please see Alan B. Reed’s Collector’s Encyclopedia of Pickard China, 1995 edition, pg. 281, for a picture of the original mark).
Dimensions: 11.75” long x 9.25” wide; gilding along the border varies from 0.25” to 0.5” in width; there is a 2nd band of gold (more of an outline than exactly a band) that also reaches around the tray.
Lay-away plans available.
