This gorgeous charger is in superb condition! The artist, Leger, has achieved a stunning effect with colors: white and bright orange hollyhock blooms contrast with the more plentiful wine-colored ones and are interspersed with vivid green leaves. The persimmon-yellow-soft green background soften the overall vibrant effect and draws your attention to the two budding, soft pink hollyhocks further up one of the stems – a touch of the unexpected.

This charger is in fantastic condition with no chips, nicks, cracks, or repairs, and the gilding shows no visible wear.

‘Leger’ has signed the front of the charger; the underside of the charger carries Mark 16b (see Mary Frank Gaston’s ‘The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain’, third edition, pg. 294) – the ‘T & V, Limoges, France’ stamp coupled with a ‘Limoges, T & V. Hand Painted’ mark in burgundy – which dates it to the 1907-1919 period.
