An Ecletic Array of Vintage & Antique Costume Estate Native American & Mexican Jewelry + Accessories & Collectibles
The box is smoothly carved and is quite substantial. The box is not nailed or screwed together but expertly constructed with tiny ivory dowels. There is a raised carved ivory notch that serves to secure the cover. This is one of the most charming and interesting boxes I’ve had and it’s in the most ‘’original' state’’. During the 1800’s a wide variety of accoutrements were stored in this type of storage box.
The lid bears the coat of arms of the British Royal Family, complete with familial motto - "Dieu et mon droit" (God and my right),
Sliding the top sideways, the 2nd top slides sideways, measuring 3/4”s long and the other 1/4” piece is stationary. The “2nd cover is scribed with lovely intricate flowers and foliage. Both the edge of the cover and the base are embellished with “Art Deco” linear motifs.
Measurements: 3 3/8” long x 1 1/4” wide-deep.
Excellent Condition.
Age: Late 1800’s.
A truly spectacular quality find, in wonderful condition.
