A fascinating compact in the shape of a 3-dimensional book, engraved on the front and back, with (3) Japanese Characters engraved on the back. The front of the compact shows Mt. Fujiyama and a pagoda in the background, with a Japanese Man in his gardening attire doing a project.. The back features a landscape scene. Please see photographs.

The Inside features a covered powder compact compartment and mirror. I had a mirror professionally cut and replaced with original 1/16” style glass because the original was cracked and chipped.

The compact is buttery and smooth with beautiful finishing touches. Remnants of powder remain. The hinge & clasp are in perfect working condition. There are a few very tiny dings.

Dimensions: 2 7/8” L x 2 3/8” W. The depth is a full 1/2”.

Signature / Marks: “950 STERLING”, which is marked on the inside of the compact.

This is a truly rare and unique compact that would be the keystone in any Antique Compact Collection.
