Vintage HOLLYCRAFT Flower Brooch Pin Electric Sapphire Blue Rhinestones Japanned Signed

This outstanding electric blue japanned rhinestone floral brooch features a stunning full petaled flower just packed with those vibrant sapphire blue rhinestones. Hollycraft took it a step further and blackened or “japanned” the metal creating a dramatic background color for this luscious flower. Hollycraft is famous for their pastel rhinestone jewelry and you don’t often find these japanned pieces with this incredible color of rhinestones. The rhinestones are set in clusters of 2, 3 and 4 for even more impact.

The flower resembles a fluffy, mulit-layered carnation to me with open spaces for the light to shine through. The outer edge features a very feminine pie-crust shaped edge. This company began in 1948 as Hollywood Jewelry, but the mark was changed to Hollycraft because of possible confusion with Joseff of Hollywood. Known for their quality pieces, Hollycraft is very popular with vintage costume jewelry collectors.
