Mann Gallery: providing high quality, affordable fine crafts for the sophisticated & discerning buyer since 1984.
Artist Rebecca Iverson-Swanson, well known for her paper dolls, notecards and stationary, also is adept as what she calls "needlesmithing". As can very well be seen in LA attitude, she certainly utilizes her art degree as well when sculpting, painting and combining fabrics and patterns for a spectacular finished piece that begs to be spoken to!
This piece measures about 16 inches tall on a 3x4 inch base. Exquisite materials have been chosen as well as unique patterns to combine for a most unusual look. she is contemporary: polka dot thigh high stockings, patterned boots, lame pantaloons, and an shimmery overskirt that reflects a multicolored light. Her black yarn hair is partially braided and beautifully styled. But it is that pouty face with the attitude that is so irresistible.
The face is sculpted of fabric and then hardened with paperclay and painted. She is only slightly poseable, in that because the body is fabric and can be bent forward or back it can be adjusted to easily balance. The position of the hand, feet, head, etc. are fixed however.
