You can tell that this was hand carved. Although the design is the same each one has a slight to significant difference.
The bracelet is 1in. wide. The interior diameter is 2-1/2in. The exterior diameter is 3in. The bracelet is 1/4in. thick. It did test positive to Bakelite using Simichrome.
The bracelet is in nice condition with only a few light surface scratches to report. The black is nice and shiny. Really close inspection revealed a tiny fault line on the inside that curves up to the edge. On the same edge of the bracelet there is a small chip on the back-side of one of the carved groves.

Quoting from author Lillian Baker’s PLASTIC JEWELRY: “Designing black plastics had many challenges. A black surface was dull until it was handcarved or cut to catch highlights. Catching and controlling these highlights was the plastic jewelry designer’s real challenge.”
I am putting the Bakelite that I have collected over the years in my shop. Please check back often, there is a tin full of really good carved stuff that I know is around here somewhere.
