I am a second generation painter & sculptor, I guess as close as I can come to describing my 'style' would be that I work in the Renaissance tradition with Impressionist influence. I like to keep the process evident, the brush stroke visible & in answer to the difficult question, what is art? I like the definition: Art is knowing when to stop...
Joni DiPirro
Joni DiPirro studied at the Academy of Florence, Italy. She was a protégé of contemporary Florentine master, Pietro Annigoni from 1968 to 1972 and studied conservation of antique paintings with Silvio Di Volo (curator of Florence's Ufizzi collection). She is an internationally know artist now living in Florida. Her paintings are in prominent collections (museums and galleries) around the world. Her style is realism and she has perfecting her craft for over 40 years.

My work is of the tradition of drawing. The work has the look of various styles and influences from the renaissance to baroque to modern techniques. I have an undergraduate degree from Dayton Art Institute and a graduate degree in Painting from Miami University. My style ranges from Expressionist works in pastels to Oil paint on canvas or board. I look at my drawings as a prelude to what will develop in my paintings. The primary subject matter of my work is the female figure, usually dancers. Expressing lots of movement in both figures and gestures. Another favorite subject is that of jazz performers. My paintings have won numerous awards from various art shows across the US. It has been shown in numerous galleries with permanent collection in Rhode Island, Washington DC and also in China.

Artist Statement:
Most of my life I have struggled with the desire to kick off my shoes and paint. Like most artists it is the most natural thing for me to do but like others the world has a way of convincing us to ignore that passion and to follow reason. Heck, we all have to eat...right? With a family and the daily responsibilities the rest of us have, finding time to paint is often a challenge. So when I do paint it is because I have to. It is not a laborious task by any means but more of a love affair with the freedom it gives me. I can create any sky I want, I can show the world what I am feeling or tell them something that is important to me. To some it is just a pretty picture to others it is a message or a statement but to the artist it is an intimate expression of themselves.
My goal with my art is to awaken your senses and to take you to a place that is maybe unfamiliar or maybe feels like home. Either way it is a place where we can feel the excitement of living, the calm of just being or the joy of solitude. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I have enjoyed painting it.

I see nature through the eyes of a child, and in my paintings I capture a stunning moment of discovery. Sometimes I capture entrancing beauty, at other times my work reflects a whimsical moment, and at other times I express a deep concern for nature. I draw from life and use my own photography as a reference to record specific details. I research my subjects and create a series of preliminary sketches working out composition components. Using a microscope I dissect and study plant and insect specimens. The more I look, the more I see, and the more I can convey to viewers.

James (Fouad) Shilaimon
James Shilaimon is the embodiment of the self-taught artist who is continually searching for ways to express the artistic voice that has been with him his entire life. This inner voice has lead James to develop his artistry in several different mediums. Whether painting in oils or watercolor or sculpting in stone, James is always exploring ways to convey his stylized expression.
Growing up in Greece, the cradle of the Masters, you begin to understand this passion and some of the influence that has shaped as well as guided James and his creations. James is driven by a need to be honest with his creative voice and also to be recognized by his artistic peers for his artistry and his respect for those that came before him. James has spent a considerable amount of his artistic life pursuing commission work while developing his craft.
With each new series from James, we see touches of the masters he has studied as well as the influence of Modern Day expressionist like Paul Ecke and Don Treadway.
His inner voice has a direction and focus that will allow us to share in the remarkable journey of his works to come.
