Original ca1950s oil on canvas by a listed New York artist Louis Wolchonok. The work shows a still life with wine bottle and cigarette in brooding subtle colors, displaying superior shading technique. A straightforward subject matter with an underlying mood.

"LOUIS WOLCHONOK (1898 - 1973) - was an author of art books, etcher, painter of townscapes, landscapes, figures, muralist, and graphic artist. Wolchonok was a social realist artist who worked in watercolors, oils, and prints. He studied at National Academy of Design, Cooper Union Art School, City College of New York, Julian Academy, Paris, and the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Art. He taught drafting at City College of NY from 1930; and design, painting and etching at the Craft Students League, YWCA, NY, NY from 1932.
