R.S. Prussia – Germany Three Handled Nappy with Bird

A nuthatch perches jauntily on a branch of spring blossoms, ready to burst into song. Spring is here! This little dish is marked with the blue R.S. GERMANY mark and dates to the 1920s or possibly early 30s. It features three handles with a geometric, almost Art Deco shape. The background is a pale, spring blue. The bird, and we believe the blossoms as well, are decals while the branches appear to be hand painted.

Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or scratches on the decal. There are a couple of pin prick firing flaws. Diameter of the plate is 6 3/4", although the handles stick out another 3/4". It is 1” high. We have another plate with the same bird, although the plate is very different in appearance.

This is a sweet plate that would be wonderful in either a bird or an R.S. Prussia collection.
