Carved Wooden Souvenir Inkstand – Eagle and Montana!

This fierce eagle dares anyone to open up the inkwell – that is, unless you have a love for Montana! This is a very fun and nicely carved souvenir inkstand from the early 1900s. It even has little black glass eyes!

Condition is very good. There is a great deal of ink staining the inside, and there is some dried ink on the inside of the bottle (which still exists!). There are a few spots of ink on the outside as well, particularly on the pen holder. We love to see ink stains ourselves, because it shows this was a loved and well used object. There is a little chipping of the wood where the peg on the lid fits into the base and a short, fine age crack on one side of the base (about ½” long). Otherwise there is no chipping or cracking of the wood. The eagle itself is in wonderful, formidable condition.

Measurements are 5 3/8” wide, 4 1/8” tall and 3 3/4" deep. This is a great little inkstand for someone’s collection – possibly one to put aside for Christmas?
