We have put many items on sale for Christmas--check us out!
Made in the 1930s, this inkstand was hand carved in Germany. The stand appears to have been carved out of two pieces of wood that were very skillfully joined together in fact, the only place where the seam is visible is on the base. The young horse is a separate piece fitted to the stand with pegs. It has a lighter finish than the rest of the base. The front of the stand has been carved out to hold pens, nibs and whatever else a horse-loving writer may have. This stand also comes with a letter holder.
Condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or significant scratches in the wood. The insert appears to be the original one, as it fits snug as a bug inside the carved well. The hinge is nice and tight. The horse is beautiful no chips on the mane or ears or anywhere else.
This is a large piece at 13 3/4" wide, 7 deep and about 7 tall from bottom of the base to the top of the horses neck. It is a beautiful desk set that would grace an old wooden desk!
Due to the size, this will need to be shipped in an oversized box. That adds quite a bit of expense to Priority Mail we can ship using Parcel Post if that is desired.
