We see this lovely young lady as a Gypsy possibly, dressed in her festival finery. She waits for her young man to arrive, sure that this is the day he will ask for her hand in marriage. That hopeful, yet slightly nervous look is in her eyes as she gazes into the distance.

This is a beautiful little porcelain miniature, nicely painted and in good condition. We do cannot guarantee that the frame is original, but it suits the painting well. The frame is made of velvet, the nap of which has been quite rubbed away over the years. A tooled metal rim surrounds the velvet. It measures 3 1/2" by 2 3/4" with the frame.

Condition is very good, considering its 100 or so years of age. There are some fine scratches on the porcelain which do not detract from its beauty. As stated, the napping on the velvet frame is rubbed; the metal rim is in excellent condition with no tarnish. There is no hanger on this frame.

We did take this miniature out of its frame and discovered that there is an old chip on one edge, as can be seen in the photo. Since the gold trim is painted over the chip, it may have happened during the manufacture or painting of this piece. In a frame, of course, the chip is not at all visible.

This lady is waiting for her love… and waiting for you to take her home!
