This great collectible German advertising yo-yo, dates from either the 1930s or early 1950s. It would not, of course, have been made during the war years since metal was scarce and needed for the war effort. One side says: “Sigella Edel-Bohner-Wachs” (Sigella, Fancy Bean Wax). Sigella was the company’s brand name for floor wax – their logo was a raven looking at his reflection in a newly waxed floor. The other side advertises that: “Der Schuhputz Lodix ist der beste” (The shoe polish Lodix is the best). Both products were owned by the chemical company Sidol-Werke, which has been in business in Germany from about 1910 to the present.
This yo-yo is in excellent condition for its age. There is some minor edge wear, but the lithography is bright and beautiful. What appears to be the original string remains.
This is a great display yo-yo, and would fit well in both yo-yo and advertising collections.
