Amber hand enameled glass rouge box

This delicate little box is just large enough to hold the right amount of rouge or face powder. Imagine it sitting on a vanity, waiting for the lady of the house to perform her toilette, dabbing her puff in the pot and tapping her cheeks. Ready for another day on the town!

This diminutive amber box is just over 2 inches in diameter and about 1 1/4 inches tall. It is a soft yellow-amber color, with little white flowers around the lid and side. Gold leaves and stems embellish the flowers, and a six petaled gold flower with pink and turquoise background adds the perfect touch to the lid’s center.

This 80 to 100 year old box is in excellent condition. Most of the enamel and gold trim is intact. The hinge is nice and tight, and the clasp in front works as it should. There is an air bubble in the base, adding some character to the warm glass. The brass collar has a nice patina.

This would make a lovely addition (or start?) to a vanity or enameled glass collection.
