We have put many items on sale for Christmas--check us out!
The frame is ebonized wood, which has faded a bit over the years. We believe this miniature dates from the mid to late 1800s, based on the frame and hair style of the lady. The hanger in back looks as though it was added later.
There is a signature that looks like Cooper with one or two indistinguishable letters in front. The last couple of letters of the signature are not terribly clear either.
Condition is very good, although there is dust inside the glass. We are not experts in cleaning these miniatures and prefer not to open them. The frame measures just under 5 by 4, while the painting is about 2.75 by just over 2.5.
This is one beautiful lady and a beautiful little piece of art for your collection.
