We have put many items on sale for Christmas--check us out!
The glass is blown, with a cut and polished rim. It begins with a glorious ruby red on the base, which becomes the palest amber-yellow at the top. The lid and applied handle are both clear glass. The rim around the lid and the hinged connection between lid and handle are pewter.
As an added bonus, lovely spring flowers lilies of the valley and other blue and red blossoms have been hand enameled on the front. The words Zum Andenken (To Remember) are painted in the middle of the blossoms.
This is a small stein; as we said, it was meant for a lady-like drinker. It measures 5.75 high.
Condition is excellent. There is a flaw where the top part of the handle meets the body. It is possible that this is an internal crack but when seen through a loupe, this area appears too soft to be a crack it appears more as folds or runnels that happened when the glass was molten. Otherwise there are no chips, cracks or scratches. Enameling is all intact.
This is a beautiful little piece of glass, worthy of being gifted again.
