TPS Monkey Golfer with Box

From the PREMIER Japanese toy manufacturer T.P.S. (Toplay Ltd.), this is the Monkey Golfer tin windup with a fixed key. According to William Gallagher’s Japanese Toys: Amusing Playthings from the Past, this marvelous toy was introduced around 1960. It had a worldwide production run of 24,000 pieces.

This toy comes complete with and includes the original package for the golf balls.

The condition is near mint. There are the usual small scratches most likely caused during production and packaging. There is a slight yellowing to some of the net. And the package of golf balls has been opened. Undoubtedly, this toy was tried a couple of times and then put away in storage for many years.

The box does show some wear. At some point it was torn and then taped from the inside. There is wear to the edges and the usual creases caused through age.

All in all this is a great toy. It displays very well and is fun to watch. Fore!!!!
