This Scottish Agate in Sterling Brooch contains nine distinct types of agate in a glorious earth tone color arrangement with one rusty red color extended down ribbon like. This piece can be used as a brooch or a pendant as it has a pendant ring attached. It is probably pre-1850 as the pin shank extends well out past the edge of the pin. It measures 1 1/8” across. There is a large, strong C-clasp and T-pin pinning mechanism customary of this period. It is in excellent condition. Scottish Agate/Pebble Jewelry is listed as a hot collecting field in Judith Miller’s book “Costume Jewelry”.
