Victorian Gold Carved Red Coral CALLA LILY Earrings are one of the most unusual sets I've come across. The earrings are very dimensional and layered. A split barked branch of gold vermeil is topped with 12Kt pink and green gold grape leaves. The raised leaves have a lovely carved red coral Calla Lily nestled under them creating a very ornate design.
Such attention to detail, with little stamens draping from the flowers. The screw back earrings have the short 1/4" screw backs of the era and this hardware for the earrings is marked 1/20 12KGF. Quite a combination of varying gold contents, but not so uncommon during the Victorian period.
These may have been for a younger girl, as piercing the ears was reserved for young ladies, rather than children.
