MEXICO Sterling Poison Ring Tiger’s Eye Cabochon Gothic

Poison rings date back centuries when they were used to slip poison into the drink of an enemy or to be taken by oneself to escape capture. Whew! Thankfully today they are items of adornment and this Mexican sterling silver ring is wonderfully complex.

An ornate bezel set tiger’s eye cabochon crowns this ring. The setting is done in an ornate scrollwork design and even the ring shank has a twisted wire embellishment. The ring opens from the side to reveal its hidden compartment.

Condition: Excellent vintage. Please note that there is a natural stress line on the top of the tiger’s eye – it is NOT a crack. The top surface is entirely smooth.

Size: Measures 1” north-to-south, ¾” east-to-west and is ½” deep. Ring is adjustable to accommodate a variety of finger sizes. Unadjusted it is currently a size 8.

Identification: Hecho In Mecixo with the initials AAC plus the early Eagle Mark with the number 22 (indicative of the city/town where this was made).
