The Pouyat family is one of the first french families that we know to have been associated with Limoges porcelain, having owned kaolin mines as early as 1760.
Antique french porcelain, hand painted by an artist more than a little willing to convey his/her talent to it's fullest extent. The artist spared nothing in the making of this breathtaking beauty.
Vibrant and filled with life, these pansies literally jump right off the vase and into your home. A truly stunning depiction of the artists talent and ability to capture natures true natural beauty.
The quality of the painting , the depth of the shadows and the artists love of creating are easily felt by the observer. Such a sweet, sweet gift; to be able to recreate to perfection, such a vast array of color and life.
Surrounded by lush greens , the deep rich purple, yellow and wine colored pansies bloom in a never ending display of perfect peace and harmony.
The artist spent many hours creating the many tones and shades of blue that soften this piece to subtle perfection.
The paint and condition of this squat vase/ewer is excellent and the very heavy gold patina is beyond mint. This piece demands attention to all who enter its domain. It literally breathes life into a room and will satisfy even the most "upper crust" of Limoges porcelain collectors.
It is a very large piece with a circumference of approximately 23", 8"X 8" and stands a wee bit over 4" tall.
Signed by the artist "Ingalls" on the side of the vase as well as on the bottom.
Marked: Jean Pouyat Limoges 1891 (For references see: Mary Gaston's Encyclopedia of Limoges China; Marks on German, Bohemian, & Austrian Porcelain 1710-present)
Where else will you find a 117 year old Limoges ewer in this condition with this much skill applied?
