Reminiscent of the french countryside, simplified beauty, soft powder blue "forget me nots" flow gently along graceful curves of eggshell thin porcelain.
There is not a bit of wear on the heavy gold accents to the gold feet, elaborate handles or finials. Has obviously been very well treasured and never used.
This extremely talented artist obviously created this piece for someone very special because the bottom of the tea pot reads: "M.E.F. to A.N. 1899".
A love affair perhaps?
The gold moriage is a time consuming endeavor - the artist spared nothing in the making of this set.
Set consists of tea pot with lid standing 7 1/2" tall and measuring 7 1/2" from handle to to spout. The covered sugar bowl stands 5 1/2" tall and is 4 1/4" in diameter at the widest point. The cream pitcher stands 4 1/2" tall to the spout and measures 4" from handle to spout. All pieces are free of chips, cracks and restoration.
Proudly displays the D&C mark #3 - underglaze, in green. Circa 18994-1900.
This set is unique for many reasons:
1. Artist completely handpainted, signed, dated and created specifically for one individual.
2. Created during the last year or so before the Delinieres & Co. ceased to be in existence. (By 1900 D&C went out of business).
3. Mint condition.
