About Antiques with Distinction

Our Service Pledge To You:
Antiques with Distinction want its Customers to be satisfied with their purchases.

We attempt to describe the Piece(s) offered for purchase as accurately as possible; however, we do not warrant that the descriptions are accurate, complete, reliable, current or error-free. Antiques with Distinction may issue to the buyer an “Antiques with Distinction certificate” for the Piece(s) purchased. These certificates provide detail on the Piece acquired, photos, dimensions, descriptions, estimated date of creation, as well as additional relevant information. The certificate is purely informative. The certificate has been established truthfully and is based on the information available to Antiques with Distinction. It does not replace an official appraisal for the acquired Piece(s). Antiques with Distinction and its staff are not appraisers or legal experts.

About Us

Antiques with Distinction brings a fresh touch to the U.S.
market of Imported European Fine Antiques. Like many, we have a passion for nice antiques, but we do not stop here. We offer you, without compromise, real "Pieces of Art," not just 100 year old reproductions. Our pieces will set your home or office apart with a unique touch of art using furniture often created before our country was founded.

Our mission statement is to offer:

unique quality antiques each with their own rich history; quality pieces of art and craftsmanship; an opportunity to bring added distinction to the new owner's home or office; and pieces that are quality investments, as much as they are decorative.

We offer you our quality pieces with the help of:

a team of experts that are passionate about the arts and innovative business-minded importers that focus on reducing costs of business, without compromising quality.

The U.S. Custom's Office defines an "antique" as any item that is over 100 years old. For this reason, the market is inundated with reproductions that may be 100 years old, but the piece may be a copy made during the industrial revolution era. Items made at the dawn of the 1900's were often made with mechanic tools.

At "Antiques with Distinction," we feel that an antique should be a piece of quality craftsmanship that is both unique and that represents its time. For this reason, we import items that stand out among the rest and that will bring added distinction to your home or office.

Our team consists of experts, collectors and restorers. Our team lives in Europe and are constantly looking for unique pieces. Many dealers purchase items just to have "inventory" in the U.S.; however, at Antiques with Distinction, our buyers are aware of all local sales and buy only when they find a piece of art that is distinct from the rest. If restoration is needed, our restorers use the original technique to restore the piece even if the technique is over 200 years old to ensure that the piece remains true to the craftsman that created it.

The world is getting smaller and smaller everyday and the Internet has been a key contributor to this globalization. These days you may browse antiques from the comfort of your home. At Antiques with Distinction, we have cut out the show room so that you may browse our portfolio of antiques on a well designed website. Do not forget, however, that our pieces are available for viewing by appointment. We believe in providing you a unique antiquing experience focusing on you, your desires and tastes. Our antiques are on display in Hunterdon/Morris County, New Jersey, only one hour west of NYC on route 78.

You may have had an experience where you were looking at a particular piece and the individual showing you the piece did not have any information on it. Sound familiar?

Each piece at "Antiques with Distinction" comes with a certificate explaining your new antique, when it was created, its style, its craftsmanship, any particularity and the history of the time when the item was designed. The certificate may serve as a discussion document for you so that you may be able to fully converse about your new "Antique with Distinction." This certificate does not replace an official appraisal that may be required by some insurance carriers, so please check with an insurance agent if you will be insuring your piece.

Why not both? Rare and top quality items that may be signed by a renowned artist or that may be a provincial jewel of craftsmanship are always becoming more and more valuable. Some experts will tell you that "Art Deco" is "In" and that "Louis XIII" is "Out," but the rule of thumb is that antiques become more and more rare with time. If the piece is a unique work of craft and/or significant for its time, the piece may become more valuable and will, in the long run, always be a good investment. At "Antiques with Distinction" we only focus on high quality items and do not offer any late 19th Century reproductions or casual pieces that do not have the distinction required to be added to our portfolio.
