Limoges: Hand Painted, Signed Figural Demitasse Set

Here we have a gorgeous Limoges signed hand painted figural demitasse set, in excellent condition. The quality of the painting on both pieces is wonderful. The Young couple is in the countryside, with the young woman sitting on a log, obviously having turned her ankle. The young man is bandaging her ankle as she steadies herself on his shoulder….the expressions on the couple’s faces is very telling. The scenic background on the cup and the saucer is subtly painted and contributes to the countryside motif. This china was imported by Lewis Straus and Sons between 1891 and 1920 is signed Henry and is marked with the back stamp in blue LS & S Limoges, France. I estimate the date to be very early 1900’s as Figural painting was very popular in the earlier pieces of Limoges. Measures 2 inches high x 2 inches across top and saucer is 4 1/2 inches.
