Here is a Fabulous Reverse Glass painting by George Goodwin Kilburne. George was born in 1839 in Norfolk. He quickly became one of the most sought after and well known artists in England. George's paintings often portrayed the upper classes and ultra-fashionable female beauties in opulent settings. This painting is no exception. The painting has miner specks of paint loss on both throws and the back of the pianists dress. The old glass panel is intact. It measures 9 1/2 x 6 ¾ and 16”x13” including the antique gold gesso ornate carved frame. The frame is old and I think original. It has a velveteen inset and a classical decorative motif . There is some damage to the upper right hand corner of the frame and some cosmetic repairs. The damage is barely noticeable when viewing the painting from the front. The painting dates to the late 1800’s, and is signed GG Kilburne.
