Fabulous Drawn Work Tea Cloth

This very unusual tea cloth was brought back from an Estate in Scotland and dates to 1900. The linen and the needlework are of the finest quality and every stitch is hand sewn. This small block design was sometimes referred to as “antique design" as a reference to an earlier design from the eighteenth century. This design has a French knot in the middle adding wonderful dimension. The edging is cotton hand crochet. I have never seen a piece like this before. It is in wonderful condition, and has no pin holes, repairs or stains. It measures 34 inches square
