Wine cups of this type were first seen in China at the beginning of the 18th century, when versions were made in glass, porcelain and hard-stone. This beautiful and delicate little wine cup dates back to the middle to late 19th century China. In spite of being made from agate stone, it is a very delicate piece and could easily be broken is not handled carefully. It is in absolutely PRISTINE CONDITION, meaning that it has no damage of any kind.
Although it did not originally come with the little wood stand, the former owner added the stand for display purposes and it does a wonderful job of displaying such a delicate little piece.
It measures 1-3/4" in height (without stand), just over 2" in height (with stand), and is 2-1/4" in diameter.
The buyer of this piece will receive an appraisal we had done for the piece, as well as a letter of provenance from the son of the former owner.
