This early 20th century cut crystal compote is absolutely gorgeous and will most definitely deserve a special place among any glass collection. I have gone over & over this and cannot find a mark as to who might have made it, but you will not care when you see the upper end quality of this piece. The most interesting feature is the large teardrop bubble in the stem. It also has a fluted rim and an optic effect to the bowl area. It's a very heavy piece and the clarity of the glass is outstanding, leaving us to wonder if it might perhaps be flint glass. We have black-light tested this lovely compote and it does indeed glow yellow under the light, meaning that it was made before World War II. However, we feel that this piece was made sometime around the turn of the century.

It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, meaning that although not in mint condition, the only issue we find is a 1/16" rim chip that had been previously buffed smooth. It isn't immediately noticeable but it still displays beautifully and truly does not detract from its beauty. Additionally, when it is lightly tapped the ring is just beautiful and sounds like a bell. The bottom of the foot has surface wear consistent with pieces of this age & there are several tiny bubbles as well something very tiny that looks as if it could be coal or something similar. However, these are things most collectors find desirable in pieces of early glass and should be considered part of the charm.

It measures 6" in height, 5" in diameter at the top, 3-1/2" diameter at the foot, and weighs approximately 2 lbs.
