We have black light tested this piece and have not found any cracks, nor any large chips. In addition, this piece glows the desirable pale yellow under the black light, which merely means that it is pre WWII. When the war began, all uranium sources went to the war effort, so glass that glows yellow under a black light, was produced before WWII. This amazing vase is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, meaning that although not in mint or perfect condition, it is still a most presentable piece of cut glass. However, there is one smallish, flat chip on the base that measures approximately 1/2" wide & 1/4" in width, but is not noticeable without the help of a magnifying glass, which was most likely caused by a kitchen faucet when being washed. Fortunately, there is nothing major, nor large enough to measure. All of the teeth of the sawtooth edge are in tact, although we did find one nick about the size of a pin head. There is also a fair amount of surface wear to the base, since it was obviously loved enough to be used often. This wear is consistent with its age & use. Still, this is a very lovely piece that would make an excellent addition to any cut glass collection. We believe that we have adjusted the price accordingly. It features a Harvard pattern around the base, as well as the rim. Then, the main feature is the fabulous copper wheel cut Daisies and leaves.
This vase measures a whopping 12 - 1/2" in height, being 5 - 1/4" in diameter @ the top rim and 4 - 3/4" in diameter at the base. The glass is approximately 1/2" in thickness and weighs approximately 5 lbs.
