This is a truly beautiful American Brilliant Period Flower Period cut glass Ice Cream Tray (1906-1916) that was cut on a very thick blank. The cuts are quite deep and very well defined and it has a lovely ring when it is lightly tapped. It appears to be a figural piece, from the latter part of the AB Period. This was the point where the owners of the big glass houses discovered that they could eliminate the job of the polisher by using an acid wash in which a piece was briefly dipped. Although it had much the same effect, the difference (although subtle) is in the clarity of the glass itself. Earlier pieces were crystal clear and figural pieces have a slight blurry look, which is one of the easiest methods of determining its age.

We have black light tested this piece and have not found any cracks, nor any large chips. However, there is roughness all around the rim, which was most likely caused by a kitchen faucet when being washed. Fortunately, there is nothing major, nor large enough to measure. All of the teeth of the sawtooth edge are in tact. There is also a fair amount of surface wear to the base, since it was obviously loved enough to be used often. This wear is consistent with its age & use. Still, this is a very lovely piece that would make an excellent addition to any cut glass collection. We believe that we have adjusted the price accordingly.

It measures 14-1/4" in length, 7-5/8" in width, approximately 2" in height, with the glass being a full 1/2" in thickness. It will be very carefully packed to insure safe shipment.
