This is an absolutely precious pair of American Brilliant Period (1875-1915) cut glass open salts. They are cut in the flute & beading pattern, which is attributed to J. D. Bergen and shown on Page 33 of Evers' Standard Cut Glass Value Guide by Jo Evers. The base of both pieces is highly polished to a smooth finish, with no visible signs of a mark made by the makers. They do have a sufficient amount of wear on the bottoms which is consistent with their age. They are, in our opinion, in EXCELLENT CONDITION, meaning that although not in mint condition, there are no major problems such as cracks or repairs & we have black light tested both pieces. Each open salt has some roughness & several teensy flea-bites, but none are immediately noticeable due to the heavy cuttings of the pattern. They are still most presentable & will display beautifully among any collection.
Each open salt measures 3/4" in height, 2" in diameter, with the open salt area measuring 1-1/4" in diameter.
