These really early micromosaics are hard to find, and harder still to find with prices we collectors can afford. The last one I had was a necklace of this age, era, set into 18K gold and it brought over $10,000, which was low compared to a comparable one I saw in Toarmina, Sicily last Autumn, tagged over 80,000 euros. My guess is hers is still in the shop window, but these are MUCH higher if you're even able to locate any in Rome or somewhere else in Italy. This is an early one, mounted later as a ring. I suspect it might have originally been part of a necklace or bracelet. Rare antique early to mid 1800s Georgian era Italian micro mosaic & silver ring, a unique garden setting architectural set in blood red stone!
Very good condition. Only tiniest nips to the red stone plaque, no missing or restored tesserae. No damage to the silver setting. The ring portion is comprised of two separate bands, fastened at one end each so it's adjustable and is rather large as you see it now - probably a size 7 or 8 in US sizes. A unique setting, probably Victorian, but the mosaic is definitely Georgian or earlier. C. 1780-1830 at latest, tiny tesserae! See pictures for measurements.
