A roaring 20's flapper, of course slightly earlier for the European 'flapper' look that we all think of as 1920s in teh USA, this style was the rage in the pre-WWI era Europe, among the trendy. We'd guestimate her as being 1912-25. This is our subject for this magnificently hand carved early 1900s shell cameo. She's also beautifully attired in a flapper-looking string strap gown wiht tons of flowers on the shoulder. VERY lovely! Definitely the work of an Italian master, the detail to her fur cape and her form are superb. The condition of this one is excellent throughout. The substantial and very elegant 18K gold mounting is magnificent, as is the quality of the shell cameo itself. Just as you see her, but even more beautiful in her own scale as opposed to being so greatly enlarged by our images. But we want you to see each detail in this elegant old brooch/lavalier combo jewelry item. These were over-the-top expensive last month in Italy, particularly these beautiful older ones.
