Fabulous antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 8" jewelry casket or desk box, hand carved rough timber look to the box and a detailed sculptural top with rare rabbit or hare figure! Bears and chamois or mountain goat figures seem to be the most common, or most frequently seen subjects on these wonderful old Black Forest pieces. Always a pleasure when we find one with a less often seen critter, the pastoral bulls & cows, a rooster, ferret and, as seen here, a hare! Wonderful condition, too, the box is in great shape all the way around with just a tiny nip or two and the original interior lining intact! A great piece, sure to please!

Very good-excellent condition. A small chipped leaf tip or two on top, possibly a tiny nip to a corner or two but no large chips, repairs or warping. Both of the hare's long ears are intact, working lock & key, too! See pictures for measurements.
