Our finer mosaics seem to keep going back to Italy, and surely are destined to turn up there at 3 times the price as your next souvenir offering in Rome or Florence - why not get them here and let the extra cash pay for your trip! This one is huge, and has the tiniest early 1800s tesserae in a magnificently detailed bouquet of spring to summer flowers. A fine and substantial 16K gold mount on this overly large plaque makes it a brooch you can wear or frame, literally, as fine art. The plaque is without any truly visible damage, though it does have a miniscule hairline that has been repaired from the backside and beautifully so - it no longer is even 'to the touch' noticeable. Perhaps you can see in our very enlarged scan? To the naked eye, probably not visible. Completely stable as you see it, and not a bit distracting for this superb piece. The tesserae on this are truly tiny - sand sized almost. Fabulous colors in one of the most popular themes, the early florals. None finer!

Very good to excellent as noted above and in our images. Noted, one miniscule fine hairline that has been repaired remarkably well from backside, almost disappears now, even to the touch. Clasp these old brooches over your pearls, ladies as an enhancer - it's a fabulous way to show them all off (pearls and brooches), and updates them a bit to today's fashion if you're just (like me) NOT a brooch person.
