Unique combination of early 1800s Persian turquoise and elegant old seed pearls are the frame for this splendid little mourning brooch with hair plaited memento inside. A charming array of colors. Entirely intact in the original state, it does not test as gold, so is pinchbeck perhaps. Hinged brooch back with addition of a loop for a pendant drop or perhaps a watch, it's perfect now to wear double-duty as a necklace pendant or as a brooch. Or just enjoy it displayed with your collection. Delicate, beautiful!

Very good condition, no damage, no losses evident. Hair remains as originally done, blond in color which often meant the departed was a child. C. 1820-30s
