Fine 19th Century Portrait Miniature/Ivory in Locket Frame with Hair Art Backing

NOTE: Under the 'seen in Paris' heading, did you even think of these as fabulous jewelry? Here's a photo I just brought back showing one of these wonderful early portraits worn as a pendant on a thick ribbon. Tres chic, oui? A fabulous and early 1800s portrait miniature of a gentleman, unsigned but finely detailed, this one is in that most wonderful of locket-style frames with small lock of hair in the backside under beveled glass. Old original glass on both sides is fully intact, and the portrait is rich and lifelike right down to the gentleman's jewelry, which is, we believe, a fraternal key. Anyone who might recognize it, please email us. We have no ID on the sitter, and can't find an artist's signature.

Very good condition, with only a 1" long hairline crack as noted in pics, and which has been reinforced from backside to prevent further cracking. Frame's backside is loose for about half the way around the outer oval, though it is firmly in place. I'm not sure if that means a solder is lost or what. It certainly doesn't impact the beauty or display/enjoyment at all, but I wanted to mention it to our customers. A gorgeous old portrait.
