This exceptional walnut Victorian chair has much detailing. The pierced carved crest has a round ebonized panel with an intricate inlaid star burst design using contrasting woods. The back has an upholstered oval panel with additional bold carvings. Notice the ornately turned and inlaid stretcher below the panel. The uniquely shaped seat makes it perfect as a vanity chair or a small bench. The inlaid starburst design is repeated on the arm. The seat rail has burled walnut with incised carvings and another ebonized and inlaid design in the center. Notice the "X" shaped legs viewed from the sides. Diamond shaped burled walnut panels with incised carvings are at the legs crossroads. Notice the hoof shaped feet resting on original wooden casters. Amazingly, the chair retains its original finish, which has a most desirable patina and color. The frame is tight and in excellent condition. The fabric will need replacement, but the springs are intact. 36"h X 31"w X 20"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
