What an incredible desk. This walnut table represents the finest in Renaissance Revival Victorian styling. The shaped top has a wide moulded edge with a large banding of burled walnut. The writing surface is a black leather looking fabric. The table skirt is extremely ornate with applied burled walnut panels with intricate and boldly carvings on all 4 sides. There is one long hand dovetailed drawer with its original working lock. Inside are 3 divided compartments. Check out the highly ornate pedestals with boldly turned columns with acanthus leaf carvings, boldly carved roundels, and more applied burl walnut on the feet and inset center column panel. An ornate stretcher with a large center finial supports the pedestals. This writing desk is a very desirable and hard to find size. It rests on its original brass casters. The finish is in excellent condition. The frame is tight with no breaks or repairs. What a commanding piece for your home or office. 29"h X 54"w X 30"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
