This is a Federal period mahogany game table from 1800-1810. The mahogany graining on the sides and top is vibrant. Notice the molded double edge and the thin edge applied to the bottom of the skirt. There is a 5 inch piece of the 1/8" edging that is missing and can be easily replaced. The column is well turned and is supported by 4 gently curved legs which are dovetailed to the center column. The legs are reeded to accentuate their slenderness. The legs are capped with their original brass paw feet which are nicely detailed. The finish appears to be old or original. There are some scratches on the top which is to be expected from a table of this period. The top rotates and folds open for card playing, etc. There is an old narrow crack that runs the width of one side of the table top and a piece of veneer 1/2" X 6" that runs along the center inner edge of one side is missing. There is a veneer patch on the front skirt. All this is minor and does not distract from the beauty and integrity of the table. 29"h X 36"w X 18"d, Condition-Good, Circa-1800.
