Antique Whiting Sterling Silver Bonbon or Candy Dish

A lovely little candy or bonbon dish c.1900 by the Frank Whiting Manufacturing Co. Whiting was/is well-known for its chased and repousse work, and this piece exhibits the firms fine handwork. Alternating fluted fans and flowers surrounded by inverted hearts form the rim, and the sides are fluted as well. There is an old monogram in script in the center--we're not sure if it's one large letter or 3 letters, as these old scripts can be difficult to decipher. The dish measures 4 3/4" in diameter and 1 1/4" high at the rim. It's marked "Sterling" and "3611" on the bottom, and the side bears the remains of an old Whiting hallmark as pictured. Condition is good with the patina of antique sterling and surface wear appropriate to age and use. A lovely sterling bonbon to add to your fine silver collection.
