Beautiful antique British sterling silver sugar tongs hallmarked for London with PB over AB initial marks, indicating the silversmith Peter and Ann Bateman and a date of 1791. The pattern is an elegant one...reeded with elongated ovals and beveled edges. They measure 5 5/8" long and are in excellent condition, no dents, no monogram, one light scratch on the back turn that can be buffed out. A fine early pair of sugar tongs by a premier English maker.
