A late Georgian period Staffordshire England polychrome transferware jug with chinoiserie pattern. Fluted or ridged spout with applied handle and decorated on the rim interior and handle as well as the exterior. Stands 4 5/8" tall and measures 6 7/8" from tip of spout to outermost portion of the handle. This beautiful early jug is in very good condition with 3 tiny flakes at the top edge as pictured and overall crazing, but no hairlines, chips or cracks. There is no maker's mark, simply and "O" under glaze on the bottom - probably the potter's mark; we believe this may be from the Sunderland pottery. A fantastic example of mid-19th century Staffordshire pottery.
